Graduate programme

Get an all-round introduction to the industry when you start your career

At Aberdeen Asset Management we recruit graduates from all degree disciplines and backgrounds who complete an internship before joining the rotational graduate scheme the following year. Successful graduates from summer 2015 internships will start our graduate scheme in the UK in February or October 2016 or in the Americas in June 2016.

If you join our graduate programme after your internship you’ll see we place a strong emphasis on your training and development, enabling you to make a real contribution to the business from an early stage in your career. During your two years on the programme you’ll rotate every four months during which time we aim to give you a well-rounded view of the asset management industry and its related functions.

A flavour of the business areas which our graduates can rotate between include (but aren’t limited to):

    • Investment - Equities, Property, Fixed Income, Aberdeen Solutions.
    • Distribution – Marketing, Business Development, Digital Marketing, Product Development, Client Management.
    • Business Operations – Risk & Compliance, Investment Operations, IT & Business Systems, Internal Audit, Human Resources, Finance.

Rotations are agreed with your leaning and development advisor and designed to give you a well-rounded experience enabling you to build the skills to succeed here at Aberdeen. Your rotations will include at least one period within our Investment, Distribution and Risk/Operations divisions. Our graduate scheme is based in London, Edinburgh and Philadelphia but we’ll give you the opportunity to maximise your exposure including at least one rotation in an international office and one other office in your home country.

During the graduate scheme we hope that you’ll discover the area of the business and location which suits your skills set and experience best. At the end of the scheme our aim is to place you within this area on a permanent basis - subject to business demand.

In addition to a structured programme of learning and development which involves studying for professional qualifications such as the CFA, you’ll receive a competitive salary and benefits package.
