Learn about our business, our people and our culture on our summer programme
All Aberdeen graduates must complete an internship before joining our graduate scheme the following year. Our internship is designed to help you learn about Aberdeen, meet our people and decide if you want to pursue a career in the asset management industry.
For our internships in the UK we recruit first to final year undergraduates and graduates, for our Americas internships we recruit interns to join us in the summer before their final year of study. Our interns come from all degree disciplines and backgrounds for opportunities across a wide range of business areas in and outside of investment.
The internship opportunities are across three locations in the UK and Americas, split into three streams which act as a springboard into our graduate programme. Locations are:
- UK – Aberdeen, Edinburgh or London.
- Americas – New York, Philadelphia or Toronto.
Investment management: Investment Solutions, Equities, Fixed Income, Property, Private Equity, Quantitative Investment, Infrastructure, Hedge Funds
Distribution and Product: Business Development, Marketing, E-Marketing, RFP, Client Services, Sponsorship, Product Development, Product Opportunities

Not all departments or divisions have a presence in every office so the placements available in each location vary. To learn more about the teams visit our departments and teams page.
What you can expect
Your internship will start with an induction day where you’ll meet the other interns, hear from current graduates as well as managers from across the business and gain an insight into your following weeks with the firm.
Following the induction you will join your department and become a member of the team. Our interns are placed to add value and will be given the same responsibilities as our graduates and other members of the team. This allows you to develop your practical and professional skills while gaining an excellent insight into the business.
As well as a competitive salary, throughout the internship you will have the opportunity to attend an intern event day, lunch and learns, networking and social activities. You may even be able to attend one of our major sponsorship events.
At the end of your internship you will be interviewed for our graduate programme. This interview will be carried out by the Talent Management team along with another senior manager from the business.
